3 drawings.
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share a small work in progress moment from the studio.
I’ve drawn out the first three images for a new series. They’re still just ink on hot press watercolour paper, waiting while I wrestle with the colour palette that will eventually pull everything together and while I also wrestle with a feeling of not wanting to mess them up (I can always redraw them, right?!). So, no paint yet. No official explanation. Just shapes, symbols, and a feeling I’m trying not to rush.
I’m holding off on naming this series for now, partly because I’m curious what you see before I say anything and probably partly out of a sense of not wanting to jinx it.
Do you notice a theme starting to surface? A shared energy? Anything whispering to you from these three? Other than my recurring theme of women with guitars, of course!
While I’ve been sitting with them, I’ve had Billianne’s song “No Wonder” on repeat. I saw her live in December and she was incredible. I was right up against the stage, close enough to feel the band and the room breathing together. It was one of those shows that lingers in your body afterward. This song feels like it belongs in this moment of not quite knowing but trusting the pull anyway. I strongly recommend going to give her album ‘Modes of Transportation’ a listen as well!
Paint is coming soon. For now, this feels like a good place to pause.
thanks!
Meli
PS: If you feel like sharing what you see or hear in these drawings, I’d love to know.

I just love these so much!
Magic work!
